Red Rocks Amphitheatre
On the way to Albuquerque with my boss for SMEI mission control rehersal 2, we stopped in Denver to visit one of our ex-PhD students, Rachel.
The three of us went to the Red Rocks Natural Amphitheatre on Sunday, and examined the American definition of 'natural'!
A few of the pictures are below.
Deer Canyon Park
On Monday, Rachel went to work, and Chris stayed in while I went for an afternoon hike in Deer Canyon Park. The thin air made the 8-mile hike pretty tough, but I had a good time.
A few of the pictures are below. A video clip of the view from the top is also here. The clip is encoded with divx5 and you may need to download and install the free codec to see the video part of the clip.
Loveland Pass
On Tuesday, Chris and I went to Design Net to tour Rachel's workplace, and then we went west for a drive into the mountains. Mount Evans (14,000 feet) was closed, but we went to the 11,990 foot Loveland Pass, then took a 20 minute walk further up to the peak to break 12,000 feet.
A few of the pictures are below. I have no idea what the little furry animals we saw were, but they were, to quote Yeechi, 'cute'.
