February 2006: Coniston, Lake District

Dow Crag and Old Man

I went to Coniston with a large group from the university, and had a great weekend away. The weather was perfect for walking, and we climbed Dow Crag and the Old Man on Saturday.

The 12 mile route climbs from 50m to 803m above sea level, with spectacular views, and the obligatory pub waiting at the end.

Tarn Hows

Sunday brought a choice of routes, with just over half heading to Langdale for some hard walking, a group of 8 heading up for an easy 7 miles to Tarn Hows, and a few relaxing after the previous day's walk.

I took the easy option, and with great weather and stunning views we ambled around The Tarns, with plenty of time for a pub-lunch before heading back to the centre to tidy up and head home.

Roll on the 2007 trip!
